A Few Good Men
A Few Good Men by Aaron Sorkin. Directed by Karl Buckley.
New Zealand premiere! Two US Marines, L Cpl Dawson (Matthew Rice) and Pfc. Downey (Oliver Page) stand accused of murdering one of their comrades. In order to avoid an embarrassing public relations disaster, Lt Daniel Kaffee (Jonathan Hope) - a young lawyer with a history of plea-bargaining - is assigned the case. With the help of Lt Sam Weinberg (Simon Cook) and Lt Cmdr Joanne Galloway (Claire Buckley), Kaffee uncovers the fact that the two Marines were simply following orders. But knowing the fact and proving it in court are two different matters, especially when the base commander, Lt Col Nathan Jessep (Scott Hayden) will go to great lengths to keep the fact a secret.
Playwright, Aaron Sorkin, adapted the script from this play into the screenplay for the well-known Hollywood movie, A Few Good Men which starred Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson and Demi Moore. Sorkin went on the create the Emmy Award-winning TV series The West Wing . Fans of the TV series will recognise Sorkin's witty, fast-paced dialogue and lines which have become icons of movie history.
